General Notes

  • The Bluetooth® enabled cellular phone and audio device compatibility presented in this document is validated under certain conditions, including the device specification at the time of testing. These results are not guaranteed and are subject to change without notice.
  • Be sure to refer to the manual or vendor of each device for assistance in the operation/setup with the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100 head unit.
  • The Bluetooth connection varies by device. Some devices initiate the connection, while others require the connection be initiated through the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100 only. Please refer to your device operating instructions for information.
  • The Bluetooth auto-connection function may not work with some devices. In this case, please manually connect according to the information provided in this document.
  • When attempting to connect to the head unit through a Bluetooth enabled device, the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100 will not be found if it is connected to another Bluetooth device, even when the "Visibility" setting is set to "Show."
  • Some cellular phones may disconnect the Bluetooth connection when the Handsfree mode is turned off. In this case, reconnect to the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100 through the cellular phone.
  • You may not be able to completely end a call on some cellular phones, even though the speech partner has hung up. In this case, please end the call by pressing the OFF button on the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100.
  • Depending on the audio device, some audio operation functions, such as reverse/fast-forward a track, may be unavailable.
  • Sound interruption may occur during Handsfree talking or Music Streaming depending on the operation status, radio wave condition and utilization condition of the cellular phone or audio device.
  • There may be a time lag between the operation of the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100 and the cellular phone during an incoming/outgoing call.
  • If unable to operate the Bluetooth function of the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100, please follow these steps to reset the head unit:
    • Turn off the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100 unit by pressing the OFF button for 2 seconds.
    • Turn on the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100 unit by pressing the OFF button for 2 seconds or press the Source button to select the source.
    Note: To ensure synchronization with the head unit, turn off and then turn on your connected Bluetooth device at the same time.
  • If the MEX-BT5000 or MEX-BT5100 music replay operation is unavailable, or the sound isn't being outputted, operate the Bluetooth audio device directly for music replay.
  • Noise and/or echo may occur during a call.
  • On some cellular phones, a contact name may get reversed when it is transferred.
  • Some characters of the contact information may not display properly.
  • The MEX-BT5000 and MEX-BT5100 support the following Bluetooth profiles: A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile), HFP (Hands-Free Profile), and OPP (Object Push Profile).
  • The results cannot be guaranteed for all mobile phone firmware versions.
