• Saving and adding recorded messages:
  • Save messages recorded by the IC recorder onto your computer hard disk as individual messages or by folders.
  • Add messages from the computer to the IC recorder.
• Editing recorded messages:
  • Divide a message into two messages or combine up to five messages into one.
• Converting file formats:
  • Convert the file format of a message saved in the computer and save it as a new file.
  • Convert a message recorded by the IC recorder into an MP3 file.
• CD burning function (CD Burning Tool for DVE):
  • Add messages from the Digital Voice Editor or Windows Explorer window to the CD Burning Tool for DVE window, and then burn the data to a CD-R/RW as an audio or data CD.
• CD recording function (CD Recording Tool for DVE):
  • Convert a CD track into a file format compatible with the Digital Voice Editor software and then save the converted file on a computer hard disk.

Before downloading and installing the software, please check the system requirements below to determine whether or not this program is compatible with your computer.

Minimum System Requirements:

• Hard Disk Space: 300 MB or more depending on the size and number of sound files you store.
• CD-ROM Drive: A CD-R/RW drive is necessary to create an audio or data CD.
• Port: Compatible USB port.
• Sound Board: Sound cards compatible with any of the supported Microsoft Windows operating systems
• Display: High color (16-bit) or higher and 800x480 resolution or higher
• Internet Access: For Voice Mail function and CD database service.

Use of this software with the following systems is not supported by Sony:

• Operating Systems other than those indicated above
• Personally constructed PCs or operating systems
• An environment that is an upgrade of the original manufacturer-installed operating system
• Multi-boot environments
• Multi-monitor environments
• Macintosh® computers

• If recorded messages are saved in the computer, it is strongly recommend that you backup the messages onto a CD-R/RW disc, or other external storage device, before installing this software.
• If a previous version of Digital Voice Editor software is installed on the computer, please uninstall the previous version by following the on-screen instructions with this utility. Messages saved in the computer and option settings may not be correctly imported if you uninstall the previous version by any other method.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.

2. Download the DVESetup_EN_3301.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the DVESetup_EN_3301.exe file to begin the installation.
4. If an "Enter the owner name" window opens, enter the owner name to be used with the Digital Voice Editor software.
   Note: You cannot change the owner name once it has been entered.
   IMPORTANT: The owner name is used for restricting use of data recorded from CDs using the CD Recording Tool for DVE. Files recorded from CDs cannot be handled in a computer that has an owner name different from the computer that recorded the CDs. If any prohibited data modification is attempted, or a file is used for other than private purposes, the file may become unplayable or the Digital Voice Editor software may become inoperable.
5. If a previous version of Sony Voice Editor software is already installed on the computer a window will open. Please read the information carefully and follow the instructions provided.
   Note: The information and options will vary depending on the type and version of Digital Voice Editor software already installed:
   • If Digital Voice Editor version 1.x is installed:
     Please uninstall version 1.x if you don't use the ICS message file format (messages recorded by the ICD-R100 or ICD-R200 recorder). You can select whether or not to uninstall Digital Voice Editor version 1.x when installing version 3.3.01.
   • If Digital Voice Editor version 2.x or 3.0 is installed:
     The previous version will be automatically uninstalled before version 3.3 is installed.
   • If Digital Voice Editor version 3.1, 3.2, or 3.3 is installed:
     Version 3.3.01 will overwrite the previous version.
   IMPORTANT: It is highly recommended that you uninstall previous versions of Digital Voice Editor software by following the on-screen instructions with this utility. Messages saved in the computer and option settings may not be correctly imported if you uninstall the previous version by any other method.
6. Follow the onscreen prompts to continue the installation.
7. At the "ICD-P Series Confirmation" screen, click to select "Yes" if your Sony voice recorder model number starts with "ICD-P". Otherwise, click to select "No".
   Note: If your voice recorder is in the ICD-P series and you select "No", you will not be able to save or edit files from your ICD-P series recorder. If you install the software and later wish to change your selection, follow the instructions on this page to install the software again and change your selection.
8. Click "Next" and follow the onscreen prompts to continue the installation.
9. When the installation is complete the "Readme" file will open. After reviewing the information, close the "Readme" window.
10. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" window, click "Finish" to restart your computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony® Digital Voice Editor Version 3.3.01 software is complete.

1. Start the Digital Voice Editor software.
2. On the "Digital Voice Editor" menubar, click "Help" and then click "About Digital Voice Editor".
3. If the Digital Voice Editor version is 3.3.01.11240, the installation was successfully completed.
4. If the Digital Voice Editor version is not 3.3.01.11240, please download and install the software again.
