Microsoft now offers Service Pack 2 to provide updates and fixes for the Windows XP operating system. The Service Pack update is only for computers that either shipped with or have been upgraded to the Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Professional or Windows XP MCE operating system. It is recommended to use the Windows Automatic Updates function to install Service Pack 2.

IMPORTANT:  The installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 may cause unexpected results on certain VAIO® computers. It is strongly recommended to follow these steps BEFORE installing the Service Pack.

1. If you have Antivirus and Anti-Spyware software installed on the computer, please run it.
2. Use the drop-down menu below to go to your Sony VAIO model-specific support page. Run all software updates that are available for your model.
3. Check your third party (non VAIO) peripheral and application manufacturer websites and run all updates available for your products.
4. Disconnect all peripherals except for the computer keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Select your VAIO® computer model and then click Continue to go to your model specific support page.
