What Does This Do?
This utility copies the Intel SATA driver files to a floppy disk for use when installing the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system.

IMPORTANT: This file is only for use with the models identified. Not all models are sold in all countries.

Important Notes
  • This utility requires a blank formatted floppy disk and a USB floppy disk drive.
  • This file is required to enable the SATA hard disk drive functionality under the Windows XP operating system.
  • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  2. Download the INDOTH-00215619-0011.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  3. Ensure the USB floppy disk drive is connected to the computer and then insert the blank formatted floppy disk.
  4. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the INDOTH-00215619-0011.EXE file to begin the installation.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to extract the driver files to floppy drive (A:\).
  6. At the "WinZip Self-Extractor - INDOTH-00215619-0011.EXE" dialog, click "Unzip"
    NOTE: By default the utility unzips all files to the floppy disk in the A: drive.
  7. At the "8 file(s) unzipped successfully" dialog, click "OK", and then click "Close".

The Intel SATA driver files are now ready for use during installation of the Windows XP operating system.

How to configure the computer BIOS settings to boot from CD
  1. Turn on or restart the computer and prepare to tap the "F2" key to enter the BIOS screen.
  2. When the VAIO® logo appears, tap the "F2" key to enter the BIOS screen.
  3. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "BOOT" section of the BIOS screen.
  4. Ensure the "External Device Boot" is set to "Enabled".
  5. Ensure that the "Internal Optical Drive" appears in the list before "Internal Hard Disk Drive". If needed, change the boot order so that the Internal Optical Drive appears first.
  6. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Exit" section of the BIOS screen, then press "Enter" to exit setup, and then press "Enter" again to confirm saving changes and to exit.
How to use the Intel SATA Driver Disk
  1. Ensure the USB floppy disk drive is connected to the computer.
  2. Insert the Windows operating system installation CD and restart the computer.
  3. At the "Press any key to boot from CD" screen, tap any keyboard key.
  4. At the "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver" screen, press the "F6" key.
  5. At the "Setup could not determine the type of one or more mass storage devices..." screen, select "S" for Specify Additional Device.
  6. When prompted, insert the floppy disk with the SATA driver files.
  7. After reading the floppy disk a list of SATA drivers is displayed, please ensure the "Intel® 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller" driver is selected, and then press "Enter".
  8. At the "Setup will load support for the following mass storage device(s): Intel® 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller", screen, press "Enter" to continue the installation.
