This update is only needed only for DSC-T100 Cyber-shot® cameras with internal software version "0620". Please follow the steps below to determine if your camera needs the update.
- Press and hold the "HOME" button and simultaneously press the "Playback" button to power on the camera.
NOTE: When the camera powers on, the message "No images" may be displayed. This means no images exist in the camera, which is not a problem.
- If the clock has not been set, the "Clock Settings" screen appears. Please set the clock before proceeding. Click here for instructions on how to set the date and time.
- Press the "HOME" button to go to the home screen, then use the control buttons to move to "Settings", then "Main Settings", and then press the center button to select.
- At the "Main Settings" screen, use the control buttons to move to and select "Main Settings 2".
- At the "Main Settings 2" screen, check the version number displayed. If the version number is "0620", the update is necessary. If the version number is other than "0620", the update is not needed.

- To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
- Click the "Download Now" link at the top or bottom of this page.
- At the "Software Agreement" page, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click the "Accept Agreement" checkmark to continue with the download.
- Download the DSCT100V2.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the DSCT100V2.exe file to begin extract the D-T100V2.dat file.
Depending on your computer configuration, the file extension ".dat" may not be displayed.
- At the "Uncompress to folder" message, click "Ok".
NOTE: By default the D-T100V2.dat file is extracted to the same folder as the one the DSCT100V2.exe file is in.
- Prepare the Memory Stick Duo media for the update by formatting it with the camera.
IMPORTANT: All data, including protected images, will be erased by formatting and cannot be restored. It is highly recommended to back up your images by copying the image data recorded on the Memory Stick Duo media onto your computer before formatting the Memory Stick Duo media.
NOTE: If any windows open when you insert the Memory Stick Duo media into the slot, please close the windows.
- Copy the update file, D-T100V2.dat, to the Memory Stick Duo media with either one of the procedures below, depending on your computer environment.
- If your computer has a Memory Stick Duo slot:
- Insert the Memory Stick Duo media formatted with the camera into the Memory Stick Duo slot of the computer.
NOTE: If any windows open when you insert the Memory Stick Duo media into the slot, please close the windows.
- Copy the update file, D-T100V2.dat, to the Memory Stick Duo media.
- If your computer does not have a Memory Stick Duo slot:
- Insert the formatted Memory Stick Duo media into the camera.
- Insert the fully charged battery or connect the AC adaptor (not supplied) and the multi cable (not supplied) to the camera.
- Press the "PLAY" button to power on the camera.
- Press the "HOME" button to go to the home screen, then use the control buttons to move to "Settings", then "Main Settings", and then press the center button to select.
- At the "Main Settings" screen, use the control buttons to move to and select "Main Settings 2".
- At the "Main Settings 2" screen, to move to "USB Connect" then select "Auto", and then press the center button to select.
- Connect the camera to the computer with the supplied USB cable.
NOTE: Operations are not guaranteed if you use a non-Sony, commercially-available USB cable.
- Copy the update file, D-T100V2.dat, to the Memory Stick Duo media inserted in the camera.
NOTE: When copying is finished, disconnect the USB cable.
- IMPORTANT: Updating the DSC-T100 software will return the camera to the original factory settings. All personal settings will be lost, including the date and time, and any images stored in the internal memory. It is strongly recommended to transfer all images stored in the camera's internal memory to a computer before updating the software.
- IMPORTANT: Be sure to supply power to the camera with a fully charged battery or the AC Adaptor, as the camera may not work properly if the power runs out during the installation of the update.
- Power off the camera.
- Insert the Memory Stick Duo media which contains the update file, D-T100V2.dat, in the camera.
- Press and hold the "HOME" button and simultaneously press the "Playback" button, to power on the camera.
NOTE: When the camera powers on, the message "No images" may be displayed. This means no images exist in the camera, which is not a problem.
- Press the "HOME" button to go to the home screen, then use the control buttons to move to "Settings", then "Main Settings", and then press the center button to select.
- At the "Main Settings" screen, use the control buttons to move to and select "Main Settings 2".
- At the "Main Settings 2" screen, check the version number displayed. If the version number is "0620", proceed with the update. If the version number is other than "0620", this update is not needed.
- At the "Main Settings 2" screen, use the control buttons to move to "Version", and then press the center button to select.
- If you receive an error message at this point, check the following:
After confirming the above, try the install process again starting with step 7, "Prepare the Memory Stick Duo media for the update...."
- At the "Version" screen, confirm that the "Current Version" listed is "0620" and that the "New Version" listed is other than "0620". If that is not the case, try the install process again starting with step 7, "Prepare the Memory Stick Duo media for the update...."
- At the "Version" screen, use the control buttons to move to "OK", and then press the center button to select and start the update.
NOTE: You can select the "Exit" button to stop the update and return to the settings screen.
- At the next screen, use the control buttons to move to "OK", and then press the center button to select and continue the update.
NOTE: You can select the "Exit" button to stop the update and return to the settings screen.
- Set the camera down gently, and do not touch any buttons during the update process.
- The screen will go blank for about 30 seconds then the "Updating" screen appears and circle signs blink. When all six circles are lit, the update is finished.
NOTE: The update process takes about three minutes.
- If the circle signs do not start blinking in the “Updating” screen, or if they stop blinking for more than 30 seconds, the update has failed. Remove the battery and disconnect the AC adapter, then wait at least 10 seconds before trying the install process again starting with step 7, "Prepare the Memory Stick Duo media for the update...."
- If the following message appears, "Error 10 Turn off and on again", the update has failed. Remove the battery and disconnect the AC adapter, then wait at least 10 seconds before trying the install process again starting with step 7, "Prepare the Memory Stick Duo media for the update...."
- When the update is successfully finished, the following message appears, "Finished Turn off and on again" appears. Press and hold the center control button until the camera powers off.

Wait at least ten seconds after the camera has powered off, and then follow the steps below to confirm that the software update has been successfully installed.
