• To install this update it is necessary to have Picture Motion Browser version 1.1 — 5.8.01 or Cyber-shot Viewer version 1.0, already installed on the computer.
• At least 700 MB of free hard disk space is required to download and install this update.
• A video card with at least 32 MB (64 MB is recommended) of memory is required to use the Movie Tracer function. Please follow the steps below to check the size of the video card memory:
  1. Press the Windows key and the "R" key at the same time to open the "Run" dialog box.
  2. At the "Run" dialog box, in the "Open:" textbox, type "dxdiag" and then click "OK"
  3. If a "Do you want to allow DxDiag to check..." message box opens, click "Yes".
  4. At the "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" window, click the "Display" tab.
  5. On the "Display" tab, the amount of video memory is listed in the "Device" section at the upper left.
• Additional requirements for playing or editing HD videos:
  • CPU: One of the following:

    Intel® Pentium® 4 2.8 GHz or faster

    Intel Pentium Duo 2.8 GHz or faster

    Intel Core™ Duo 1.66 GHz or faster

    Intel Core 2 Duo 1.20 GHz or faster

  • RAM: 1 GB or more
• In a computer which does not meet the recommended system requirements, videos may not play smoothly in the Movie Tracer screen. However, they will play properly after being saved as WMV format video files.
• This update is intended for use with a factory preinstalled version of one of the following Microsoft® Windows® operating systems:
  • Windows 7 (with Service Pack 1)
  • Windows Vista® (with Service Pack 2)
  • Windows XP (with Service Pack 3)
  Notes:

  64-bit versions of Windows XP operating system are not supported

  Starter versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems are not supported

  Operation is not guaranteed in an upgraded or multi-boot environment

• To install this update it is necessary to have Picture Motion Browser version 1.1 — 5.8.01 already installed on the computer.
• Different Sony® digital imaging products support different features of Picture Motion Browser software. If you have more than one Picture Motion Browser install disc, it is strongly recommended to install all versions from the original install discs before installing this update.
• The computer must be connected to the Internet in order to use the PMB Updater.
• Make sure the Picture Motion Browser is not running when installing the version 5.8.02.
• During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in to the computer as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.

If you are updating Picture Motion Browser version 5.3 or older, certain functions will be removed by installing this update.

• The following functions included in some versions of Picture Motion Browser will no longer be available:
  • eDeco function
  • Data Disc Creation
  • Adding "Favorite" marks to images
  • Image Export Tool in Picture Motion Browser version 3.0.02
  • Importing images with album data from a DSC-T2
  • Playlist Disc Creation
  • Highlight index for expanded videos
  • Deleting images from the HDD or the internal memory in the camcorder
  • Converting an AVCHD™ disc to a DVD-Video disc in Video Disc Copier
  • Creating a DVD-Video disc with still images
  • Exporting videos to a tape in the DV/HDV camcorder
  • PMB Exporter for Walkman® players
  • One Touch DiscBurn function for HDD camcorders (when updating from Picture Motion Browser version 4.3.02)
• The following functions will also be removed but can be re-added using the Download function of PMB Launcher:
  • Movie Tracer
  • PMB Portable Maintenance Tool
    Note: PMB Portable Installer can be used instead of the Maintenance Tool.
  • Exporting images with album data to a DSC-T2
  • Album Editor for a DSC-G1

1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
2. Click the "Download Now" link at the top or bottom of this page.
3. At the "Software Agreement" page, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "Accept Agreement" to continue with the download.
4. Download the PMB56_Updater1105a.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
5. The computer must be connected to the Internet in order to use the PMB Updater.
6. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PMB56_Updater1105a.exe file to run PMB Updater.
7. PMB Updater verifies the information necessary for the download, and then downloads the Picture Motion Browser version 5.8.02 update.
   IMPORTANT: PMB Updater transfers information about the version of Picture Motion Browser installed on the computer, and what Operating System is being used, to the server administered by Sony. Sony uses this information solely for the purpose of management and diagnosis for providing the Picture Motion Browser update program. PMB Updater does not transfer any information that may identify an individual.
8. When the download is complete the Picture Motion Browser update process will start automatically.
   Note: Depending on the settings of your security software, the program may not be downloaded. In this case, please check the settings of the security software, and then try the download again.
9. Please follow the on-screen prompts carefully to complete the installation.

1. Start the Picture Motion Browser software.
2. On the Menu Bar, click "Help" and then select "About Picture Motion Browser".
3. The Picture Motion Browser Version number should be 5.8.02.xxxxx
   Note: If the version number is not 5.8.02.xxxxx, please re-run the Download Manager and install the update again.

• If you have a Sony AVCHD camera or camcorder, and computer with a Blu-ray Disc burner, you can create high definition videos in Blu-ray Disc format from videos recorded with the Sony AVCHD camcorder by using Picture Motion browser and the Blu-ray Disc Add-on software.
  Note: Approximately 50 GB of available disk space may be required to create discs in Blu-ray Disc format.
