What Does This Do?

This utility updates the Broadcom Bluetooth firmware to version 2.2.3.593.596a to resolve an issue where a Bluetooth device does not maintain connection with the computer.

IMPORTANT: This file is only for use with the models identified. Not all models are sold in all countries.

Important Notes
  • This update is intended only for models with the integrated Bluetooth device. Please ensure the Bluetooth device is properly enabled before installing the update.
  • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.

  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
How to enable the integrated Bluetooth device
  1. Ensure the Wireless switch on the computer is set to the "ON" position to enable the Bluetooth hardware.
  2. Launch the SmartWi™ application by double-clicking the "SmartWi Connection Utility" icon on the taskbar.
  3. At the "SmartWi Connection Utility" screen, under the "Bluetooth" section, ensure the Bluetooth option is set to "ON".
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  2. Download the BRFOTH-00225490-1040.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the BRFOTH-00225490-1040.EXE file to begin the installation.
  4. At the "User Account Control" screen, click "Yes".
  5. At the "Broadcom Bluetooth Firmware Update" screen, click "Next".
  6. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.
  7. At the "Welcome to the DFU Wizard for Bluetooth Device" screen, click "Next".
  8. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I accept the terms in the license agreement", then click "Next"
  9. At the "Ready to Start the DFU" screen, read the caution information, then click "Start".
  10. At the "Bluetooth DFU Wizard completed" screen, click "Finish".
  11. At the "Finish" screen, click "Finish".

The installation of the Broadcom Bluetooth Firmware Update is complete.

NOTE: If desired, you can confirm the firmware update by following the steps provided.

How to confirm the firmware update.
  1. Click the "Start" icon, and then type "Device Manager" in the search box.
  2. Click "Device Manager" to open the application.
  3. In the "Device Manager" window, double-click the "Bluetooth Radios" icon.
  4. Under the "Bluetooth Radios" category, double-click "FOXCONN-T77H114-BCM2070".
  5. At the "FOXCONN-T77H114-BCM2070 Properties" screen, click the "Details" tab.
  6. On the "Details" tab, under "Property", click the drop-down arrow and select "Hardware Ids".
  7. Under "Value", confirm that "USB\VID_0489&PID_E00F&REV_0596" is listed.
  8. To close the window, click the "X" in the upper-right corner.
