This utility copies the Intel 82801 SATA AHCI Driver files to a floppy disk for use when performing a clean install of the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system.
This file is required to enable the SATA hard disk drive and is intended to provide basic system functionality under Windows XP operating system.

- During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
- To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
- It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

- To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
- Download the INDOTH-12766700-XP.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the INDOTH-12766700-XP.EXE file to begin the installation.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to extract the driver files to floppy drive (A:\).
- At the "WinZip Self-Extractor - INDOTH-12766700-XP.EXE" dialog, click "Unzip"
NOTE: By default the utility unzips all files to the floppy disk in the A: drive.
- At the "8 file(s) unzipped successfully" dialog, click "OK", and then click "Close".
The Intel® 82801 SATA AHCI Driver files are now ready for use in performing a clean installation of the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system.

How to configure the computer BIOS settings to boot from CD
|
- Turn on or restart the computer and prepare to tap the "F2" key to enter the BIOS screen.
- When the VAIO logo appears, tap the "F2" key to enter the BIOS screen.
- Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "BOOT" section of the BIOS screen.
- Ensure the "External Device Boot" is set to "Enabled".
- Ensure that the "Internal Optical Drive" appears in the list before "Internal Hard Disk Drive". If needed, change the boot order so that the Internal Optical Drive appears first.
- Press the "F10" key to save changes and exit.

How to Use the Intel 82801 SATA AHCI Driver Disk
|
- Ensure the USB floppy disk drive connected.
- Insert the Microsoft® Windows® operating system installation CD and restart the computer.
- At the "Press any key to boot from CD" screen, tap any keyboard key.
- At the "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver" screen, press the "F6" key .
- At the "Setup could not determine the type of one or more mass storage devices..." screen, select "S" for Specify Additional Device.
- When prompted, insert the floppy disk with the SATA driver files.
- After reading the floppy disk, a list of SATA drivers is displayed, please ensure the Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M)" driver is selected, and then press "Enter".
- At the "Setup will load support for the following mass storage device(s): Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M)", screen, press "Enter" to continue the installation.
- Finish the Windows operating system installation and install all necessary drivers.
