What does this do?

This utility updates the BIOS to version R0190X5 and provides the following benefits over the originally installed BIOS:

  • Improves thermal fan control.
  • Prevents the system model information from disappearing which may cause a System Recovery to fail.
  • Resolves an issue where the PC Card I/O cannot function properly.
  • Resolves an incorrect key matrix issue when configured for a European keyboard.
  • Resolves an issue where the computer system will not start in multilanguage mode.

Important Notes
  • WARNING!!: Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
  • During the installation of this update:
    • Do not turn the computer off.
    • Do not allow the computer to enter Standby or Hibernation states.
    • Do not start other programs.
    • Do not connect any peripherals.
  • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  2. Download the PHBSYS-00965927-US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PHBSYS-00965927-US.EXE file to begin the installation.
  4. At the "BIOS Update Utility" screen, click "Next".
  5. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.
    NOTE: Please wait while the utility extracts the necessary files for the update.
  6. At the "VAIO BIOS Update Tool 1.0.01.10181" box, click "Update".
  7. At the "WBFLASH" box, click "OK".
    8. NOTE: Please wait while the utility updates the BIOS.
  8. At the "WBFLASH BIOS Update successfully completed" box , click "OK" to shutdown the computer.
  9. After the computer shuts down, wait for a few seconds, and then power on the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS Update is complete.
