Sony® Giga Pocket® Software Recovery Update

What Does This Do?

This utility resolves the issue where you are unable to install the Sony® Giga Pocket® software from the user-created Recovery media or after the system is recovered using the Recovery CD/DVD.

After installing this update, you will be able to create new Recovery Media that will correctly restore the Giga Pocket application.

Important Notes
  • After completing the installation of this update, please create new Recovery Media with the VAIO Recovery Wizard so that the Giga Pocket® software will reinstall successfully if the Recovery Media is used.
  • After completing the installation of this update, the Giga Pocket® software must be re-installed from the Recovery Media or by using the VAIO Recovery Wizard. After re-installing the Giga Pocket® software, it is recommended that you download and install the Sony® Giga Pocket® 5.5 Update Utility to update and improve the Giga Pocket® software.
  • During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the SO-Z10000801GY.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the SO-Z10000801GY.EXE file to begin the installation.
  3. At the "Sony® Giga Pocket Recovery Update for Microsoft® Windows® XP - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
  4. At the "Finished" box, click Finish.
  5. At the "Install" box, click OK to restart the system.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony® Giga Pocket® Software Recovery Update is complete.

After completing the installation of this update, please create new Recovery Media with the VAIO Recovery Wizard so that the Giga Pocket® software will reinstall successfully if the Recovery Media is used.
