Before Upgrading to Windows Vista
Use the following steps to prepare your computer:
- - Learn about known issues with the Windows Vista operating system.
- - Back up your personal files (for example, word processing documents, e-mail, pictures, and Internet favorites) to another computer or to CD or DVD discs.
- - Use the VAIO Recovery Wizard to create a set of recovery discs. For detailed instructions, refer to VAIO Recovery Options in Windows Help and Support by clicking the Start menu, clicking Help and Support, and clicking VAIO Recovery Options.
- - Update the virus protection software installed on your computer to the latest version. Visit the Web site of the manufacturer of your virus protection software for more information.
- - Download and install all software and driver updates listed on the VAIO support page for your computer model at the Sony VAIO Support Web site, http://www.sony.com/pcsupport.
- - If possible, scan your computer with a spy ware and ad ware protection program to ensure your computer is free from spy ware and ad ware. A variety of such programs are available for free on the Internet or for purchase from software retailers.
