USB Audio Driver

What Does This Do?
This utility installs an updated version of the USB Audio driver software to support the playback of your audio files from your computer using the USB connection and also provides improved performance for the USB-B function.

IMPORTANT: This file is only for use with the models identified. Not all models are sold in all countries.

System Requirements

This software requires a computer meeting the following system requirements:

  • A USB port (USB 2.0 compliant).
  • One of the following Microsoft® Windows® operating systems installed:
    • Windows 10
    • Windows 8, 8.1
    • Windows 7 (with Service Pack 1)
    • Windows Vista® (with Service Pack 2)
Important Notes
  • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in to the computer as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
    1. Download the file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference) on your computer.
    2. Go to the location where the file was downloaded to extract the Setup.exe file.
    3. Extract the Setup.exe file:
      1. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and right-click the file, and then click "Extract All".

        Note: For Windows 8/8.1, the default settings for Internet Explorer® will save the file in the "Downloads" folder. To locate the Downloads folder, click the "Desktop" tile from the Start screen and then locate the downloaded file using Windows Explorer.
      2. At the "Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders" screen, click "Extract".
      3. A new folder is created called Sony_Audio_USB_Driver_V1.01 that contains the Setup.exe file.
    4. Go to the location where the folder was created and double-click to open the Sony_Audio_USB_Driver_V1.01 folder.
    5. Double-click the "Setup.exe" file to begin the installation.
    6. At the "Choose Setup Language" screen, select the language you wish to use, and then click "Next".

    7. At the "Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for SONY Audio" screen, click "Next".

    8. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, select "I accept the terms in the license agreement", and then click "Install".

    9. The "Installing Sony Audio" screen displays the installation progress.

    10. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, click "Finish" to complete the driver installation.

    11. Connect the USB cable from the computer to the USB terminal (type B) on the back panel of the unit.
    12. Power on the unit.
    13. Select the "USB REAR" (MAP-S1) or "USB-B" (SRS-X9) function:
      • For model MAP-S1, select the "USB-REAR" function using the remote commander.
      • For model SRS-X9, press the "USB-B" button on the unit to select the USB-B function.

      After the installation completes successfully, "Sony Audio" is added to the "Sound, video and game controllers" section of Device Manager.

    The USB Audio driver installation is complete.
