Programming Instructions

Follow these steps to program the remote control.

To control a VCR, DVD or laser disc player:
  1. Turn on the VCR, DVD or laser disc player.
  2. On the remote control, move the VTR1 2 3 DVD/MDP switch to 1, 2 or 3 for a VCR or DVD/MDP for a DVD or laser disc player.
  3. Press the CODE SET button.
  4. Press the FUNCTION DVD/VTR button.
  5. Using the number pad, enter the component's manufacturer code.
  6. NOTE: If more than one code number is listed for the manufacturer, enter one code at a time until you find one that works.

  7. Press the ENTER button.
  8. Point the remote control at the component.
  9. Press the DVD/VTR power button to verify operation.
To control a cable box or digital satellite receiver:
  1. Turn on the cable box or satellite receiver.
  2. Press the FUNCTION SAT/CABLE button.
  3. Press the CODE SET button.
  4. Using the number pad, enter the component's manufacturer code.
  5. NOTE: If more than one code number is listed for the manufacturer, enter one code at a time until you find one that works.

  6. Press the ENTER button.
  7. Release the CODE SET button.
  8. Point the remote control at the component.
  9. Press the SAT/CABLE power button to verify operation.

NOTES:

  • If a new code number is entered, the code number previously entered will be erased.
  • When the batteries are replaced, the programmed codes may be erased. It may be necessary to reprogram the remote after replacing the batteries.
  • The operation of a combination deck of any kind is not guaranteed.
  • Some product functions may not be able to be controlled by the remote control. Use the remote control provided with the component.
  • In some rare cases, you may not be able to operate your non-Sony equipment with the supplied remote control. This is because your equipment may use a code that is not provided with this remote control. In this case, please use the equipment's own remote control.
